Our Beginnings:

Lee Odom took a metal shop class in elementary school where he was excited to learn about the art of soldering. Because his mother’s washtub was always leaking, lee could see the possibilities in learning the skill. By the time he was 12 or 13, he was making extra money doing odd jobs and repairing metal tubs and buckets of various kinds.

During WWII, Lee served in the navy as a sheet metal worker. After the war he continued to hone his skills by attending sheet metal apprenticeship school. It was here he met Cliff Thompson. The men worked together for a sheet metal shop in Tulsa, and as their friendship grew, they shared their dream of someday owning their own business.

On March 12th, 1954, the two friends joined forces to establish Oil Capitol Sheet Metal Works, later incorporating it as Oil Capitol Sheet Metal Inc. in 1968. Their inaugural investment was a new 8-foot hand brake, which remains in use at the shop to this day. Their unwavering dedication and hard work were pivotal in launching and sustaining the company, laying the foundation for our continued success today.

We remain committed to our roots as a family-owned business, with several members from both families having contributed to the company over the years.
